An assignment to shoot portraits for a professional opera singer can be an intimidating task.
In this case it turned out to be a nice and interesting shooting with a talented artist.
I on the other hand learned again a lot about studio lights and professional make-up.

Although quite a lot of pictures were done, the one below is my hero-shot for that day. Hopefully capturing the personality and profession of Melanie in a way that works.

For this shot we had the typical three light setup: key light (softbox, to the camera right), fill light (beauty dish, to the left) and a hair light from right behind Melanie.
To eliminate more shadows a reflector had been placed on chest hight, reflecting upwards. Most of that equipment can still be seen in Melanie’s eyes.

I’m proud that some of the pictures we did on that day made it to newspaper articles and of course to Melanie’s webpage.
